Overview

AccionMonie is the revamped mobile banking app of Accion Microfinance Bank (MFB), Which I designed to align with the bank vision for digital maturity and excellence. This involved a complete overhaul of the app’s user interface and experience, focusing on providing a one-stop platform for financial empowerment and literacy. The redesign aimed to attract new customers, retain existing ones, and deliver innovative financial services in a seamless and user-friendly manner.

Product Vision

One-Stop Payment Platform: Support for intra and interbank payments, card payments, QR payments, and bill payments, serving a diverse range of customers.

One-Stop Loans Platform: A hub for accessing on-demand loan products digitally, such as Buy Now Pay Later, Solar Loans, School Fees Loans, and invoice financing.

One-Stop Savings Platform: A range of savings products, including target/tailored savings, motivated savings, and locked savings.

Digital Financial Literacy: Provision of digital financial education and opportunities to customers, enhancing their financial literacy and decision-making abilities.

The CHallenge

The initial AccionMonie mobile app faced challenges with a less secure onboarding process and limited functionality, which led to a poor user experience. The app struggled with low engagement, difficulty in accessing key features like loans and payments, and lacked the flexibility needed to serve diverse customer needs and preferences effectively, necessitating a complete redesign and revamp to align with modern digital banking standards.

The AccionMonie app underwent a comprehensive UI/UX revamp to simplify onboarding, enhance navigation, and introduce a modern, user-friendly interface. Key improvements included streamlined user flows for payments, transfers, and loans, a centralized dashboard for easy account management, and the integration of new features like virtual cards, digital loans, and tailored savings plans. These enhancements aimed to improve user engagement, accessibility, and overall customer experience, aligning the app with the bank’s digital transformation goals.

Since the revamp, the AccionMonie app has successfully attracted a growing user base, achieving over 10,000 downloads. Positive feedback has been received from users, praising the enhanced experience and comprehensive features. Additionally, the app fully adheres to all Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations, with significant improvements in security measures, ensuring a safe and compliant digital banking environment for all customers.
